Lt. Colonel Frank Cates joined the Henderson Police Department in 1992. Over the course of his career, he has served in various capacities throughout the Department. His past assignments include serving in the Traffic and Patrol Division as an officer and a Commanding Officer and in the Investigations Division as a Detective.
He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in October of 2013 and is currently assigned as the Assistant Police Chief. In this position, he is responsible for assisting the Chief of Police in performing managerial, administrative, and specialized work functions associated with overseeing assigned police services and division administrative activities.
Lt. Colonel Cates is a graduate of the 238th FBI National Academy as well as a graduate from the 126th Administrative Officers Course of the Southern Police Institute. He also served ten years in the Army National Guard obtaining the rank of Warrant Officer.
Lt. Colonel Cates is a life-long Henderson resident. He is married and has two adult daughters and a granddaughter. In August of 2013, he was ordained as a Deacon in his church.
